Ekta Chaudhary's national costume looks exotic and goes well with her short hair. Ritu Kumar designed the costume in which, according to Ekta, "oozes Indianess".

Simran Kaur Mundi, 2008 clinched the Best National Costume title at the Miss Universe peagent. The dress which won Simran Kaur Mundi the title for Best National Costume was an exotic laacha-choli designed by Ritu Kumar. Pond's Femina Miss India Universe 2006 Neha Kapur was a tomboy at heart, but she was completely in sync with Indian art and culture. Fashion designer Ritu Kumar had designed her national costume, lehenga-choli in purple and orange with gold work that had bounce and figure-hugging silhouettes.
