Bollywood's favourite yaars

Friendship was etched in Bollywood's history with the coming into existence of Jay and Veeru. Since then, not just films like Saudagar and Dostana to name a few have exploited the cause of friendship in tinsel town.

Even some of our best and biggest stars have maintained friendships in spite of industry odds that can put the fictitious Sholay duo to shame.

Blonde bonding

Call this one a true ajooba or what, but the one diva who rarely gets along with any of her female co-stars, Kareena Kapoor has found best friend in the form of candy girl Amrita Arora. A volatile love life, shopping glam apparels and accessories and a Punjabi upbringing is what gets the two hitting off unlike most other women in Bollywood.

Humility not being her best virtue, Bebo is in fact so fond of Amrita that she doesn't even mind her getting the ultra-glam role which is considered to be an equal if not better piece of the pie in 'Kambakth Ishq'.

Cameo camaraderie

In Bollywood they say, every friendship is based on a favour. And if there's one contemporary friendship where it appears as true and uncoated as any other, it is the SRK-Arjun Rampal camaraderie. It all began when Arjun asked SRK to do a cameo in hi first production 'I See You'. The ever-ready actor when it comes to making brief appearances that work wonders for increasing screen presence, SRK happily obliged.

The brief time rapidly developed into close bonding which saw Arjun winning the villain's role in 'OSO'. As an act of reciprocation, Arjun ensured that he was present in SRK's absence at the IPL for Kolkata Knightriders' matches to garner enough publicity for it by posing for the paparazzi.

Bong bombshells

Flooding in the industry with a dozen Bengali item girls not withstanding, there are two who have kept their mutual admiration circle a tight-knit zone with no room for petty catfights. Tanushree Dutta and Koena Mitra have been lending each other a shoulder to lean on since the time they got into the industry and since then, there has been no looking back.

Even when the former earned herself a not so sincere reputation when she cried foul regarding Nana Patekar, it was her kohl-eyed friend Koena who consoled that this phase would pass through the passage of time.

Chaddi buddies

One friendship that we would like to believe is quite unadulterated is of Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. Literally chaddi buddies, the duo have been hanging out together since they were school kids. Not just did the two stay in the common posh suburb of Juhu in Mumbai, they even went to attend the same school – Bombay Scottish.

And in what can be called inevitable, Abhishek and Uday even landed up in the same profession. So when the next time you sit to watch 'Dhoom 2' and find yourself amazed at the comfort levels that both the actors share in spite of being completely opposite personalities, you know where to trace it back.
