I can explain the situation with an Example of movie " lamhe" (Anil kapoor-Sridevi starer, one of finest movie ever made in hindi cinema), wherein one advise has been given that we have to express our feelings towards our loved one, i.e. if u have two option whether to express towards her or not , then it is advisable to state away say her about ur feelings in cosmetic language.

Secondly in ur case u know each other since last six years , so if u tried to read/study her body language or expression then also u can judge tat rather it is just friendship or something special.

One more thing said in the "Title Song" of that movie

" ye lamhe, ye bate ham jab yaad karenge
ye maosam na rahe to ham fariyad karenge"

if to day u r not express ur feeling then it may possible that in future u will held liable urself for not expressing the same.
