Samsung Star Now Goes Wi-Fi
Samsung’s Star series of mid range touchscreen handsets is doing quite well especially in India with the Star 3G and the S5230. But the series doesn’t end there. The latest news is that Samsung has now launched another Star Series handset with one more additional feature – Wi-Fi hence the name Star Wi-Fi or the S5233W.

What puzzles me is that it’s the exact same handset, the S5230 with what seems to be just one singular addition i.e. the Wi-Fi antenna. It could have been launched with this feature initially as adding just one feature at a time and giving the handset a new name is a little odd. Then again it also allows users to choose a handset based on your requirements.
* The Star Wi-Fi is equipped with -
* a 3 inch touchscreen (240 x 400 pixels, 262K colors)
* EDGE/GPRS
* Wi-Fi
* Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0
* microSD card support
* 3.2 megapixel camera with a Smile Shot feature
* MP3 player with DNSe
* FM radio
It showed up on the Samsung Middle East site and it seems to be priced around Rs. 12, 167 ($250) which is a great price for a Wi-Fi enabled handset. However there’s no word on it hitting our shelves just yet so stay tuned.
