I would like to add one more point .. Manipulation. I think its your ability to manipulate the things which is more important than anything else....and comes handy at every stage.

I will second that. Actually manipulation doesn't have to be a negative, back stabbing type; it could be very upfront and positive, one just needs smarts to be able to do so.
