Barbershop

2002's Barbershop, which starred Ice Cube, Anthony Anderson, Eve and Cedric the Entertainer, told the tale of one family-owned barbershop in South Side Chicago and its importance to the local community.

In Black America, the Barbershop has come to be known as a de facto town hall, the place for grievances to be aired, bonds to be formed and culture to be passed down.

It's only after Ice Cube's character comes to realise this that he truly appreciates the shop for what it is, a family and community heirloom.

Sweeney Todd

Depp didn't want to put down the scissors just yet. In 2007, he teamed up again with director Burton to give us Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

The dark, demented musical tells the story of a talented barber gone mad, who slits his clients' throats and then launches into song before the blood begins to cool.

If the other movies on this list emphasise the fun, social nature of the barbershop, this one shows what happens when you've lost your mind and are surrounded by sharp blades and exposed, unsuspecting necks!
