We've always been shooting overseas, jetting off to Switzerland and Mauritius for mere song sequences.

Here's a look, starting with this Friday's release, at recent American projects that have been shot in India:

The Darjeeling Limited

In keeping with director Wes Anderson's unpredictable style, despite the film's title, most of Darjeeling Limited was shot in Rajasthan. The film is about three American brothers (Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody) out on a journey to find themselves. Anderson also picked homegrown star Irrfan Khan for a minor role.

A Mighty Heart

This was hard to miss. Sure there was much keen interest in director Michael Winterbottom's adaptation of Marianne Pearl's novel, but everything was overshadowed by a power-couple. Producer Brad Pitt and leading lady Angelina Jolie camped in Pune and caused a media ruckus, even as Winterbottom meticulously recreated Pakistan in India.

Oh, and as seems to be the norm, Irrfan starred in this one too -- and in a significent capacity

Born Into Brothels

Zana Briski and Ross Kaufman's stirring, irresistible documentary about children born into Calcutta's red-light Sonigachi district won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2005.

The Bourne Supremacy

Paul Greengrass' explosive hit film was the second in the Bourne trilogy and tossed Matt Damon onto the beaches of Goa. Jason Bourne might not remember who he is, but after this high-stakes actioner, he'd sure have Goa on his mind.

The Day After Tomorrow

Roland Emmerich's 2004 global disaster movie might have largely been filmed in Canada -- and is the highest grossing film of all time to have done so -- but the Jake Gyllenhaal starrer had some moments showing worldwide disaster, and had scenes filmed in India as well.
