Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird - 286 kmph

The Honda CBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird has ceased production but it is still one of the fastest bikes around. Introduced in 1997, the Blackbird is a sport-touring motorcycle that combines big engine power with easy operation and high touring comfort.

The Blackbird was the result of Honda's attempt to build the world's fastest production motorcycle, stealing the crown from Kawasaki when it reached a top speed of 286 kmph.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 - 300 kmph

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14, named Kawasaki ZZR1400 in Europe and Japan, is the flagship model in Kawasaki's sport bike lineup and their most powerful model.

This is the bike that gave the Suzuki Hayabusa a very hard run for its money and claim of being the fastest production bike. The Ninja can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in under 2.5 seconds, and is capable of completing a standing quarter mile in about 9.83 seconds. That is fast by any standards.

Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa - 305 kmph

Introduced in 1999, the Suzuki GSX1300R, also known as the Hayabusa, is almost the Holy Grail as far as fast motorcycle goes. It has a 1299 cc inline-4 engine that produces a power output of 175 bhp and was consistently tested as the fastest production motorcycle in the world.

The name Hayabusa is the Japanese term for the Peregrine Falcon, known for its speed, and in all possibilities, it was choosen as a joke at the expense of the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird which was the fastest production motorcycle prior to the Hayabusa. The Peregrine Falcon is a predator of the common blackbird.

MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K-365 kmph

MTT Turbine Superbike, also known as Y2K Turbine Superbike, is the world's second motorcycle to be powered by a turbine engine and has been created by Ted McIntyre of Marine Turbine Technologies Inc. This motorcycle is powered by a Rolls Royce Allison 250 series turboshaft engine which has a power output of 320bhp.

Such awesome power has also resulted in an amazing top speed 365 kmph. This superbike carries a price tag of US$150,000 (Rs 60 lakh) and is recognized by Guinness World Records as the "most powerful production motorcycle" and the "most expensive production motorcycle".

Unlike other contemporary motorcycles such as the Hayabusa, R1 etc manufactured after 2001, the MTT Turbine Superbike do not adhere to the 300 kmph speed limit that was self-imposed by Japanese manufacturers to ensure safety.
